The Physical Sciences Department at United Technologies Research Center, a division of United Technologies Corporation, is seeking a mechanical/electro-mechanical test Engineer who can work as part of a multidisciplinary, high performance team involved in R&D focused on developing advanced manufacturing processes and Tribological testing that are relevant to United Technologies Corporation business units. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following activities:
- Developing and maintaining data acquisition systems using LabView hardware and software.
- Developing and maintaining laboratory equipment controls and monitoring capability.
- Specification and integration of sensors into laboratory equipment.
- Building and running test equipment related to advanced manufacturing processes, material (chemical) processing, material (chemical) synthesis, material testing, and Tribology,.
- Programming and using robots for various advanced manufacturing applications.
Required skills include experience with LabView hardware and software products and programming languages (C/C++ or equivalent). The candidate must have experience in developing advanced manufacturing and material processing methodologies. An understanding of Tribology, wear, friction and lubrication fundamentals, and development and running of wear testers, lubrication systems, gear and bearing testing is also desired.
A motivated individual capable of working on several diverse projects with changing project requirements is needed. The applicant must possess a passion for testing and building of advanced testing equipment, outstanding communication and teaming skills, and exceptional electro-mechanical ability.
US Person (Green card holder) or US Citizen required. Education Master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
