Senior Research Engineer, Aerodynamics

The Aerodynamics Group at United Technologies Research Center (UTRC) invites individuals with expertise in turbomachinery aerodynamics to apply for an open position. The successful candidate will collaborate within inter-disciplinary teams on the design and analysis of turbomachinery applications, the development of high-fidelity computational models, and the experimental verification of advanced technology. The candidate is expected to demonstrate innovation in the delivery of advanced technology and through creative analysis and problem solving; to communicate research results effectively through both verbal and written means; and to participate in the creation of research proposals to UTC business units and government agencies.


Qualification:

Expert knowledge of fluid mechanics / aerodynamics as applied to turbomachinery with experience in the application of computational fluid dynamics

  • Experience in the application of analytical skills to the development of new technology
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in multi-disciplinary teams and to deliver to challenging technical objectives through creative problem solving and innovative thinking
  • Record of technical contributions including patents and publications

Excellent communication skills – written and presentation


Education: M.S. in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering or closely related field with at least 5 years of industrial research experience. The preferred candidate will have a PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering with 1-2 years of industrial research experience.
