The Systems department of the United Technologies Research Center (UTRC) has an open position in the area of Software Engineering and Computing Technologies at the level of Software Engineering Intern. Candidates meeting a substantial subset of the criteria listed below are encouraged to apply.
UTC implements a wide variety of software intensive systems, from controls to diagnostics to high-level reasoning. These systems have become dramatically more complex in recent years due to increasing demand for functionality in UTC products as well as increasing connectedness between networked systems and the high degree of integration with associated products and other physical systems. The Computing Technologies group at UTRC is developing technology and processes to help deal with this complexity and provide the rapidly changing software engineering expertise demanded of UTC systems. The Computing Technologies Group is developing new software architectures, edge network technology and design synthesis and analysis technology for cyber-physical systems. These novel systems stretch beyond traditional embedded devices to include large enterprise systems and the Internet of Things (IoT). Secure coding and best practice software engineering is a major factor in developing, fielding, and maintaining these systems.
The candidate should understand software engineering principles and technologies at the level of design, implementation, and testing. In addition, the candidate should be capable of participating in agile development that span multiple groups and include multiple disciplines.
- Read, understand, and develop software in C, C++, C#, Java and/or Python
- Have a solid understanding of a variety of target platforms including Windows, Linux, and various embedded platforms
