The Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence of United Technologies Corporation (UTC) invites qualified individuals to apply for the position of Computer Scientist, Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence.
UTC is a $60 billion company that supplies products and services to the aerospace and building services industries. The newly-formed UTC Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (CoE), centrally hosted at UTC’s Research Center, will encompass a critical mass of Additive Manufacturing process and industrialization experts, the necessary equipment, and develop the strategic collaborations needed to rapidly mature the technology and manufacturing readiness of the critical technologies that are required to accelerate the development, transition, and deployment of additive manufactured products and systems for UTC’s business units (UTC Aerospace Systems, Pratt & Whitney, Otis Elevator, UTC Climate, Controls, & Security).
The Computer Scientist position has a broad range of activities and responsibilities that are important to the effective operation of the Additive Manufacturing (AM) CoE, including:
- Responsibility for CoE’s IT system architecture and equipment connectivity
- Validation & verification of developed modeling & simulation code
- Transition of developed code to supported production platforms
- Manufacturing App development
- TB level database structure development
- Development/selection of production scheduling and quality systems
The successful candidate should have demonstrated ability to integrate software and hardware (robotics and automation). Candidate should be capable to test, verify, and validate software code for transition to a production environment. The candidate should be detail oriented with strong analytical and mathematical skills. Knowledge of engineering, manufacturing, and/or quality systems is preferred. Experience with CAD and model based environment is beneficial. She/he must be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment focused on innovation with good collaboration and both verbal and written communication skills.
US Citizenship or US Permanent Resident status required.
~10% travel may be required.
Education: Candidates for this position require a MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or related technical field with 4 to 7 or more years of experience in an applied research environment or manufacturing operations.
